FSHR, or Follicle-Stimulating Hormone Receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) primarily expressed on the surface of ovarian granulosa cells in females and Sertoli cells in males. It plays a crucial role in the regulation of reproductive function by mediating the effects of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. One of the primary functions of FSHR is its role in folliculogenesis, the process by which ovarian follicles develop and mature.
