Chlamydia Test – for qualitative detection of Chlamydia trachomatis
GetTested’s Chlamydia Test is suitable for targeted screening, but several sexually transmitted infections can cause similar symptoms. In cases of unclear symptoms or when a broader analysis is needed, test panels that include multiple infections can be a more informative option.
Common symptoms of chlamydia
Chlamydia is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis and is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. The infection is often asymptomatic, but some individuals may experience:
- Abnormal discharge
- Burning sensation during urination
- Pain during intercourse
- Testicular pain
- Rectal pain or discharge
- Eye inflammation
Because many people show no symptoms, regular testing is an important way to detect the infection early.
Understanding chlamydial infection
Chlamydia is transmitted through sexual contact. The infection affects the mucous membranes of the urinary and genital tracts. Testing allows for the detection of exposure to Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria.
How the test works
The test is intended for the qualitative detection of Chlamydia trachomatis in urine samples. Both men and women can use the test, and clear instructions are provided for simple and correct sample collection. Results can be read within approximately 15 minutes.
Sample collection – step by step
- Collect urine in the provided cup or a clean container.
- Use the pipette to transfer 0.5 ml of urine into the buffer tube.
- Gently shake to mix.
- Break off the tip of the buffer tube and apply 3 drops to the test cassette.
- Wait approximately 15 minutes and read the result.
Considering broader STI testing?
For a more comprehensive view of sexual health, GetTested also offers the 3-in-1 STI Test (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas) and the 8-in-1 Test, which screens for multiple infections simultaneously.
Discretion and privacy
The test is delivered in a neutral outer package without visible sender or sensitive labeling. The entire process – from ordering to sampling and result reading – is handled discreetly.
Note
The test is CE-marked and intended for professional use within healthcare settings.
