Rapid Test for Herpes Virus

The Herpes Test is a rapid diagnostic test that detects antibodies against Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 and Type 2 (HSV-1 & HSV-2) in blood. The test is easy to perform and provides results within 10–15 minutes.

What Does the Test Detect?

The test identifies IgG and IgM antibodies against HSV-1 and HSV-2, which can indicate a past or ongoing infection:

  • IgM antibodies may indicate a recent or active infection.
  • IgG antibodies may indicate a past or established infection.

Since antibodies can remain in the body for a long time, the test does not determine whether an infection is currently active.

What Is Herpes Simplex Virus?

  • HSV-1 (Herpes Simplex Type 1): Usually associated with cold sores, but it can also cause genital herpes. It is mainly transmitted through saliva and skin contact.
  • HSV-2 (Herpes Simplex Type 2): Primarily linked to genital herpes, but it can also occur in the mouth. It is transmitted through sexual contact.

Symptoms of Herpes

Herpes infections can be asymptomatic or cause symptoms such as:

  • Small blisters or sores on the lips, mouth, or genitals
  • Tingling, itching, or burning before an outbreak
  • Fever and swollen lymph nodes during the first infection
  • Recurrent outbreaks triggered by stress, illness, or a weakened immune system

The test is CE-certified for professional use.
