See allThe Histamine in Stool test from GetTested helps identify elevated histamine levels in the digestive system, which can be linked to conditions like histamine intolerance, food allergies, and gastrointestinal disorders. This non-invasive test provides a detailed insight into your gut health, offering valuable information for those experiencing symptoms related to histamine overload. If you’re looking to test for histamine intolerance specifically, we recommend the Histamine Intolerance Test instead.

Content
The Histamine in Stool test is designed to measure the level of histamine in the stool, which can indicate histamine intolerance or an IgE-mediated food allergy. Elevated histamine levels may result from impaired production of Diamine Oxidase (DAO), chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal conditions like celiac disease or Crohn's disease, food intolerances (IgG), or stress-related mast cell breakdown.
Difference Between Histamine in Stool and Blood DAO Test
It's important to understand the difference between this stool test and a blood-based histamine intolerance test, which measures DAO enzyme activity. The blood test evaluates the body’s ability to break down histamine, whereas the Histamine in Stool test measures histamine levels directly within the digestive system. This provides specific insights into gastrointestinal-related histamine issues, which the blood test does not address.
How It Works
Once you receive the test kit, you collect a stool sample and return it using the pre-paid envelope provided. Be sure to register your unique test ID online before sending in your sample to ensure it is properly processed.
Included in Gut Microbiome XL Test
The Histamine in Stool test is also included as part of the comprehensive Gut Microbiome XL test, which provides an in-depth analysis of your gut health.
