Discover abnormal acidity levels in vaginal discharge with our Vaginal pH Test for Bacterial Vaginosis. A balanced and acidic vaginal pH level between 3.8 and 4.5 is crucial for optimal vaginal protection. Imbalances in the vaginal bacterial flora can lead to various discomforts in the genital area, caused by bacteria and fungi. An elevated pH level is common and often associated with bacterial vaginosis, also known as vaginitis.

While assessing your vaginal health with the Vaginal pH Test, it’s also beneficial to check for potential fungal imbalances using our Candida Test.

About our Vaginal pH Test

Our Vaginal pH value Test comes with special vaginal ph test strips. You simply insert a sampling stick into the vagina to collect a sample. When the sampling stick comes into contact with the pH paper on the test panel, a colour change occurs. Different pH levels result in different degrees and shades of colour, with each specific pH level associated with a particular degree or shade on the colour scale that comes with the test.

The importance of vaginal ph balance

A balanced vaginal pH is crucial for maintaining a healthy vaginal environment and preventing infections. The majority of disease-causing bacteria cannot survive in the naturally acidic environment of the vagina. Normally, the vaginal pH ranges from 3.8 to 4.5. Unfortunately, vaginal infections are common and can be recurring issues for women of all ages. Identifying any imbalances in acidity levels in vaginal discharge is essential for early detection and treatment of infections.

An imbalance in the vaginal bacterial flora can lead to an increase in pH levels and cause bacterial vaginosis, also known as vaginal catarrh. This is an infection of the vagina that can result in a foul-smelling genital area and varying color and consistency of the discharge. Untreated bacterial vaginosis can lead to complications and sometimes require medical care. The infection can also reduce the vagina's protection against other infections, making it important to treat it as soon as possible to avoid further complications.

This rapid test for vaginal pH is CE marked for home use and is also approved for in vitro diagnostics (IVD).

Symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis / pH Imbalance

Symptoms of bacterial vaginosis include foul-smelling discharge, particularly after intercourse and menstruation when the pH level increases. The discharge may be clear, grey, white, or green. Burning sensation at the vaginal opening may also occur. However, it is essential to note that bacterial vaginosis itself does not cause itching, but a yeast infection of Candida, which can produce these symptoms. If you want to test for candida, you can do it here.

Our at home Vaginal pH Test provides you with a simple and reliable method to monitor your vaginal health and detect any pH imbalances in time to take necessary actions and maintain a healthy vaginal environment.

How to test Vaginal pH

Using this rapid test for vaginal pH value is simple and convenient. The test consists of an individual sampling stick specially designed to measure the pH in the vagina.

Follow these simple steps to perform the test:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before opening the vaginal ph test kit.
  2. Take out the sampling stick from the package without touching the tip itself.
  3. Separate the labia to access the vagina.
  4. Gently insert the sampling stick about 5 centimetres into the vagina and wait for about 10 seconds.
  5. Remove the sampling stick and compare the colour change with the accompanying colour scale.

How is the Vaginal pH test carried out?

Our Vaginal pH test is a home test kit with instant results. After ordering, we will send you a kit with everything you need to perform the test yourself. Results are obtained within a few minutes.

Does an abnormal result mean the patient has bacterial vaginosis?

Not necessarily. Some women, especially those in menopause, may experience an elevated pH level in the vagina, which can lead to an abnormal result even if there is no bacterial or parasitic infection present.

Who should get a Vaginal pH test?

A Vaginal pH test is recommended for women experiencing symptoms like unusual discharge, odor, itching, or burning, which may indicate infections like bacterial vaginosis or yeast infections. It's also useful for postmenopausal women experiencing hormonal changes affecting vaginal pH. Women considering over-the-counter treatments for yeast infections may also benefit from this test to ensure correct treatment.
