Herpes Test (HSV-1 & HSV-2) – Rapid Test for Herpes Virus
GetTested’s Herpes Test is used for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Herpes Simplex Virus types 1 and 2 in blood samples. The test is easy to use and provides results within approximately 10–15 minutes.
The test does not differentiate between HSV-1 and HSV-2. A positive result indicates the presence of antibodies to either type.
What does the test detect?
The test detects IgG and IgM antibodies against HSV-1 and HSV-2.
- IgM antibodies may indicate a new or recent infection.
- IgG antibodies may indicate a past or established infection.
As antibodies can remain in the body for an extended period, the test does not determine whether an infection is currently active.
