Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a zoonotic disease that spreads from animals to humans but can also be transmitted between humans. The disease typically has an incubation period of 5–21 days and begins with symptoms such as fever, headache, and muscle aches, followed by a rash that spreads across the body. Symptoms are usually self-limiting, but in some cases, they can be severe and require medical attention.
GetTested's Mpox Test uses a specific enzyme-based reaction to detect the Mpox virus antigen. The test is performed by applying a sample from a skin lesion exudate or throat swab to the test cassette. If the antigen is present, it reacts with the components of the test, causing a color change in the test area. A colored line indicates a positive result, while the absence of a line indicates a negative result.
