Rapid Test for Mycoplasma pneumoniae
The Mycoplasma Test is a rapid diagnostic test for the qualitative detection of IgG and IgM antibodies against Mycoplasma pneumoniae in whole blood. The test is easy to perform and provides results within 10 minutes.
What does the test detect?
The test identifies antibodies that may indicate a current or recent infection:
- IgM antibodies may suggest an early or active infection.
- IgG antibodies may indicate a past or ongoing long-term infection.
Since the test line intensity can vary depending on the amount of antibodies in the sample, even faint color variations in the test line should be considered a positive result.
What is Mycoplasma pneumoniae?
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a bacterium that causes respiratory infections, sometimes referred to as "walking pneumonia," as symptoms are often milder than typical pneumonia. The infection spreads through respiratory droplets and can affect people of all ages, though it is most common in children, teenagers, and young adults.
Symptoms of Mycoplasma infection
Symptoms can range from mild to more severe and may include:
- Persistent dry cough
- Fever and headache
- Muscle pain and fatigue
- Sore throat and hoarseness
- In some cases, pneumonia
The test is CE-certified for professional use.
