About this supplement
EPA, DHA and Their Roles in Brain, Vision and Heart Function
EPA and DHA are omega-3 fatty acids that the human body cannot produce in adequate quantities and must obtain through diet or supplementation. DHA is a structural component of cell membranes and is found in particularly high concentrations in the brain and retina, where it contributes to membrane fluidity and the structural integrity of photoreceptor cells. EPA is involved in the production of fatty acid-derived signalling molecules and plays a role in cardiovascular function. The primary dietary sources of both are oily fish including salmon, mackerel and sardines. Intake varies considerably between individuals, and the quality and purity of fish oil used in supplementation varies significantly depending on the source and purification process.
Epax®: The Benchmark for Fish Oil Quality
The fish oil in Omega-3 is Epax®, sourced from a Norwegian producer whose oils are ultra-purified, highly concentrated and used extensively in clinical research worldwide. Epax® is the reference standard for pharmaceutical-grade omega-3 and is recognised for what it removes as much as for what it delivers. Not all fish oils are equivalent, and the source and purification process behind the oil are the most important quality variables in any omega-3 supplement.
Natural Triglyceride Form
The EPA and DHA in Omega-3 are delivered in the natural triglyceride form, the form in which omega-3 fatty acids occur in fish. A formulation decision consistent with the quality standard of the Epax® oil and the natural structure of these fatty acids as found in food.
Stabilised with Natural Antioxidants
Fish oil is sensitive to oxidation, which degrades quality and affects both taste and efficacy. Omega-3 is stabilised with rosemary extract and mixed tocopherols, natural antioxidants that protect oil quality from production through to daily use. No artificial antioxidants or preservatives.
Frequently asked questions
How many softgels are in the container?
60 softgels, a one month supply at the recommended dose of two softgels per day.
Why two softgels per day rather than one?
The daily serving is two softgels, delivering 1,000mg of Epax® fish oil with 400mg EPA and 300mg DHA. A single softgel delivers half the daily dose. Taking both softgels together or separately throughout the day makes no meaningful difference — consistency matters more than timing.
What is Epax® and why does it matter?
Epax® is a Norwegian fish oil producer whose oils are ultra-purified, highly concentrated and used in clinical research worldwide. It is the reference standard for pharmaceutical-grade omega-3. The source and purification of the oil are the most important quality variables in any omega-3 supplement, and Epax® represents the highest standard available.
What is the natural triglyceride form?
EPA and DHA occur naturally in fish in the triglyceride form. Some omega-3 supplements use an ethyl ester form, which is a processing byproduct of the concentration process. Omega-3 preserves the natural triglyceride form, consistent with the quality standard of the Epax® oil.
Is this product vegan?
No. Omega-3 contains fish oil and fish gelatin and is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
When is the best time to take Omega-3?
With a meal, preferably one containing some fat, which supports absorption of fat-soluble nutrients. Morning or evening both work. Consistency is more important than timing.
Who should not take Omega-3?
Not suitable for people with fish or shellfish allergies. Not suitable for people with swallowing difficulties. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare professional. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, consult a healthcare professional before use. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
How should I store it?
In the original sealed packaging, in a dry place away from light at +5 to +25°C.
