NCOR1, also known as Nuclear Receptor Corepressor 1, is a critical regulator of gene expression and transcriptional repression. Positioned predominantly within the nucleus of cells, NCOR1 plays a pivotal role in modulating the activity of nuclear receptors and other transcription factors. One of the primary functions of NCOR1 is to act as a corepressor for various nuclear receptors, including thyroid hormone receptors (TRs), retinoic acid receptors (RARs), and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs).
