See allThe GetTested hs-CRP test is a test that analyzes hs-CRP. CRP stands for C-reactive protein, which is a protein formed in and released from the liver in response to infection (mainly bacterial infections), inflammation, or after various types of trauma such as surgical procedures.
Common CRP measures the high CRP levels that occur in connection with infectious diseases or tissue damage, while a high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) measures the chronic low-grade inflammation that may be present in the body of otherwise healthy individuals.

Understanding hs-CRP
CRP, or C-reactive protein, originates and releases from the liver when facing infection, inflammation, or trauma like surgery. While regular CRP identifies high levels typically linked to infectious diseases or tissue damage, high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) pinpoints chronic mild inflammation even in healthy people.
Why Analyze hs-CRP?
Recent studies suggest that chronic mild inflammation might increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes. These conditions often arise from plaque buildup in major blood vessels, a process called atherosclerosis. Contrary to its name, atherosclerosis deals with cholesterol deposition and immune cell accumulation, not calcium. Chronic inflammation, detectable through hs-CRP levels in blood, both initiates and exacerbates this process.
Test Procedure
To conduct this test, you'll prick your finger and place the blood into a provided tube at home. It's best to do this in the morning before eating. After sending your sample to our lab (shipping's on us), you'll soon receive your digital results once completed.
