This pump is crucial for maintaining the electrochemical gradients of sodium and potassium ions across cell membranes, a process essential for numerous physiological functions, including nerve conduction, muscle contraction, and regulation of cell volume. As a subunit of the Na+/K+-ATPase pump, ATP1B2 plays an indispensable role in the assembly, stability, and function of the pump complex. It interacts with the catalytic alpha subunit of the pump, ATP1A1 or ATP1A2, and helps to anchor the complex to the cell membrane....
