About this supplement

Turmeric and Its Active Compounds

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a plant in the ginger family native to South and Southeast Asia, widely used as a food spice and in traditional wellness practices. The yellow colour of turmeric comes from a group of compounds called curcuminoids, of which curcumin is the most extensively studied. In its natural form, turmeric root contains approximately 2 to 5% curcuminoids by weight. Standardised extracts concentrate these compounds significantly, with 95% curcuminoid standardisation representing the highest grade commonly used in supplement formulations.

95% Curcuminoid Standardisation

The quality of a turmeric supplement depends primarily on its curcuminoid content and standardisation. TURMERIC uses an extract standardised to 95% curcuminoids, delivering 285mg of curcuminoids per capsule from 300mg of extract. This is the pharmaceutical-grade specification for turmeric extracts and reflects a significantly higher concentration of active compounds than raw turmeric powder or lower-grade extracts.

Piperine: Addressing Curcumin's Absorption Challenge

One well-documented characteristic of curcumin is its limited bioavailability. It is poorly absorbed, rapidly metabolised, and quickly eliminated when taken alone. Piperine, a naturally occurring compound from black pepper (Piper nigrum), has been shown to significantly support curcumin absorption by inhibiting certain metabolic processes and slowing gut transit. TURMERIC includes 3mg of piperine per capsule specifically to address this, making the curcuminoids in the formula more available to the body.

Three Ingredients, Nothing Else

TURMERIC contains three ingredients: turmeric root extract, black pepper extract, and a vegetable capsule. No bulking agents, no additional excipients, no fillers. A clean formula built entirely around the extract and its absorption.

Frequently asked questions

How many capsules are in the container?

90 capsules, a three month supply at the recommended dose of one capsule per day.

What are curcuminoids?

Curcuminoids are the primary active compounds in turmeric root, responsible for its characteristic yellow colour and the focus of most turmeric research. Curcumin is the most studied of these compounds. In natural turmeric root, curcuminoids make up approximately 2 to 5% of the plant's weight. TURMERIC uses an extract standardised to 95%, delivering 285mg of curcuminoids per capsule.

Why is piperine included?

Curcumin has notoriously limited bioavailability when taken alone. Piperine, a compound from black pepper, supports absorption by influencing metabolic processes and gut transit. Including piperine alongside curcumin is a well-established formulation approach and is why this combination appears in most research-grade turmeric supplements.

Is the piperine in this product BioPerine®?

No. TURMERIC uses a black pepper extract (Piper nigrum) that is not branded. GetTested Ashwagandha uses BioPerine®, the patented piperine brand. Both deliver piperine as a bioavailability enhancer but from different sources.

Who should not take TURMERIC?

For adults only. Not suitable for children, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are taking medication, or have liver or gallbladder conditions, seek medical advice before use. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

How should I store it?

In the original sealed packaging, in a dry place away from light at +5 to +25°C.
